Seychelles News Agency to Resume Operations

The Seychelles News Agency (SNA) will officially resume operations on Monday, 26th January 2026, in line with the Government’s commitment to strengthening national information services and ensuring timely access to public information.  President Dr. Patrick Herminie’s maintains his pledge as part of his early governance priorities.

The Vice-President, who holds responsibility for the information portfolio, marked the milestone by inaugurating the SNA’s redesigned website, signalling the operational restoration of the agency’s digital presence.

The Department of Information has appointed Ms. Betymie Bonnelame and Mr. Rassin Vannier to lead the reconstruction of the SNA over the coming six months. This period will focus on rebuilding institutional capacity, governance structures, and editorial operations ahead of full resumption.

The new administration is committed to reconnecting Seychelles with the global community, providing the international public with free and accessible news from the archipelago. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to transparency, information sharing, and the nation’s presence on the world stage.

Established in April 2014, the Seychelles News Agency ceased operations in December 2024. Its resumption reflects an institutional decision to restore a national news service dedicated to professional journalism and the dissemination of information in the public interest.
