Appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Agency

The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Mrs. Yvana Thérèsine as the Chief Executive Officer of the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Agency.

Mrs. Thérèsine holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia.

She brings over 30 years of progressive experience across health services, human resources administration, drug prevention and education, policy development, and institutional leadership.

Mrs. Thérèsine began her career as a nurse in 1992. In 1998, she joined the Ministry of Health as the Health Educator. Over the years, she has held several key positions, including Senior Lecturer, Student Support Officer, and Coordinator of Studies at the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS) in 2010.

In 2012, she was appointed Director of the Drug and Alcohol Council. She later joined the Agency for Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation (APDAR) in 2017, as Director for the Prevention and Education Division.

Prior to her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Agency, Mrs. Thérèsine served as the Director General for Human Resources and Administration at the Health Care Agency, a position she has held since May 2022.

Mrs. Thérèsine will assume her new role as Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2026.
