World Tourism Day visitors receive special welcome

As part of the annual World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27, the Tourism Department extended a special welcome to visitors arriving at Seychelles International Airport, as well as those traveling through the island-hopping points on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.

Guests were greeted with warm hospitality and small tokens of appreciation, reflecting Seychelles’ long-standing commitment to making every visitor feel valued from the moment they arrive. The gesture also serves as a reminder of the essential role tourism continues to play in the nation’s economy and cultural identity.

World Tourism Day is recognized globally as a moment to spotlight the importance of sustainable and responsible tourism. In Seychelles, it provides an opportunity to celebrate the people who shape visitors’ experiences every day, from hospitality workers and tour operators to local artisans and guides.

This year’s theme emphasized community engagement and the shared responsibility of protecting the natural environment that makes Seychelles a world-renowned destination.

Salim C. Mathieu, Founder of Seychelles in Sweden, notes that meaningful gestures like these help reinforce Seychelles’ reputation for warmth, authenticity, and hospitality, values that continue to resonate strongly with travelers from around the world.
